An explosion at a Texas oil refinery led to residents having to shelter in place. On Monday, March 23, an explosion at the Valero Port Arthur Refinery. Port Arthur, Texas, a city located around 90 miles east of Houston, was reported, according to a post on the City of Port Arthur's Facebook. "Nobody's hurt, thank God for that," said Port Arthur Mayor Charlotte Moses during a Facebook livestream. Video shows moments after the explosion, when smoke plumes billowed into the sky. The cause of the explosion has not been made public yet. USA TODAY has contacted Valero Energy and the Port Arthur Fire Department for more information.
