The FY2026 U.S. defense budget has reached a historic $1 trillion topline. And on April 3, 2026, the White House released a FY2027 budget request of $1.5 trillion — the largest defense spending proposal in decades, representing a 44% increase over FY2026 and exceeding the Reagan-era buildup in inflation-adjusted terms.
