Walgreens: Microsoft Scientists Working On 'Store Of The Future' Walgreens has partnered with UnitedHealth Group's MedExpress urgent care centers in 16 pilot markets to more closely link primary care with the drugstore chain's pharmacies. These connected facilities are in Elkins, West Virginia. UnitedHealth Group/MedExpress photo Walgreens Boots Alliance said its partnership with Microsoft is largely a “research project” focused on improving the drugstore chain’s data capabilities and helping the pharmacy giant create the “store of the future.” Speaking at the SVB Leerink Global Conference Walgreens said Microsoft is working to get all of the drugstore chain’s “data on the cloud,” which is expected to save the company money in the long run with better systems and digital capabilities in what the company is referring to as "Horizon 1."
