The arrest escalates Trump administration pressure on journalists, following FBI seizure of a Post reporter's devices and the AP's ban from the White House. Lemon left CNN in 2023 after sexist remarks and went on to build a YouTube program with 1.3 million subscribers. For years at CNN, Don Lemon had been a thorn in the side of President Trump, frequently taking him to task during his first term over his comments about immigrants and other matters. On Friday, the former CNN anchor — now an independent journalist who hosts his own YouTube show — was in a Los Angeles federal courtroom and charged with conspiracy and interfering with the First Amendment rights of worshippers during the Jan. 18 protest at the Cities Church in St. Paul.
