The firm stated, “With ?two strong competitors vying to secure the future ?of this unique American ?asset, ?Affinity has decided no longer to pursue ?the opportunity. The dynamics ?of the investment have changed significantly ?since we initially became ?involved ?in October. We ?continue to believe there is a strong strategic rationale for Paramount's offer.” Paramount is offering $30 per share, above Netflix's $27.75, and has appealed directly to Warner shareholders after saying the company's managers “never engaged meaningfully” with earlier offers. The bid remains supported by Gulf state-linked funds and is led by Paramount CEO David Ellison. Warner is reviewing the offer. Analysts warn Paramount's higher bid could lose momentum after a private equity partner withdrew, casting doubt on its ability to finance the acquisition.
