Paramount files suit in battle with Netflix to take over Warner Bros [Yahoo! Finance]

In a lawsuit in Delaware, where shareholders often bring corporate disputes, Paramount is demanding more information from WBD management about its decision to favour the bid from Netflix. "We filed suit this morning in Delaware Chancery Court to ask the court to simply direct WBD to provide this information so that WBD shareholders have what they need to be able to make an informed decision," Paramount said in a statement. Paramount is also seeking to nominate its own candidates to the board of WBD, hoping to secure shareholder backing through that route. Netflix has offered about $83 billion to acquire only Warner's studio and HBO Max streaming operations. Paramount, by contrast, has bid $108.4 billion for the entire WBD group, including its television networks such as CNN. The management of Warner Bros. Discovery has come out in favour of the Netflix offer, but the shareholders have the final say.
