JONATHAN NACKSTRAND/Getty Images Liquidity is returning to Nordic VC-backed companies as buyout funds step in and a new generation of IPO candidates start to line up. In 2025, exit value for Nordic startups came in at €18.7 billion (about $21.5 billion), according to PitchBook's latest Nordic Private Capital Breakdown , more than quadrupling the total for 2024. Even after stripping out Swedish buy-now, pay-later giant Klarna's $15 billion US IPO, which accounted for 70% of the exit value, the Nordics still saw an increase in both value and count from 2024. In total, VC-backed exit count rose 7% year over year to 138, marking a return to growth for the Nordic countries for the first time in three years. Only Norway saw fewer exits than in 2024, while Sweden and Denmark recorded the highest increases. For IPOs, Klarna's high-profile listing was an exception rather than the rule for Nordic startups.
