Over the summer of 2025, a series of breaches exposed risks hidden within software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms. The ShinyHunters attacks on Salesforce and the compromise of Salesloft's Drift integration showed how attackers can exploit the SaaS ecosystem to steal data. These incidents did not depend on zero days or malware; they relied on trust in integrations, credentials and AI assistants. ShinyHunters Target Salesforce Via Social Engineering ShinyHunters targeted organizations' Salesforce CRM systems using old-fashioned but effective social engineering. In June 2025, attackers posing as IT or HR staff called employees at Google and Workday to steal credentials through vishing, and in some cases, tricked users into authorizing a malicious OAuth app in their Salesforce environment. On these calls, victims were directed to Salesforce's connected app setup page and told to enter a code, which created a link to a fake Salesforce data loader app under the attackers' control. O
