Many Wall Street analysts remain bullish on memory stocks, which they argue are poised to continue to benefit from a tight market and a step-up in demand. No one stays on top forever. That goes for the hottest stocks in the AI trade, too. Memory stocks, many which were among last year's best performers in the S&P 500—and which continued to climb to start 2026—have slumped in the past two weeks. Shares of Micron ( MU ) are down nearly 30% since closing at an all-time high on March 18. Sandisk ( SNDK ) and Western Digital ( WDC ), the latter which was spun off from the former early last year, have dropped 22% and 19%, respectively, from their own highs a day later. Memory stocks have been whacked by a combination of forces. First, dynamic random access memory (DRAM) prices, which soared over the past year as booming demand from AI data centers exacerbated a supply shortage, are by some measures softening.
