If you're looking to grab a Baconator and Frosty this spring, be prepared for potential Wendy's closures , though Rhode Island may be spared. Wendy's is closing 300-600, or 5-6%, of its U.S. locations during the first half of 2026, the company announced in November 2025, USA TODAY reported. As part of the reduction, 28 restaurants were closed during the last quarter of 2025, Interim CEO Ken Cook said in a Feb. 13 earnings call. The fast-food chain currently has 16 locations throughout Rhode Island , among nearly 6,000 nationwide. Wendy's has not stated whether any Rhode Island locations will be closing. The move is part of a push to mitigate recent financial challenges facing the company, Cook said in the Feb. 13 earnings call. "By closing consistently underperforming restaurants, we are enabling our franchisee partners to increase focus on locations with the greatest potential for profitable growth," Cook said.
