Wendy Thomas was just 8 years old when her father founded the now-iconic fast-food chain in Columbus, Ohio, in 1969. The restaurant was successful early on and began franchising in 1972. As its mascot, Wendy Thomas quickly became the face of a growing brand — a role that few children ever experience.
