Some gas stations in the region are sporting $3.99 per gallon price tags on retail gasoline, according to data from GasBuddy , a fuel price tracking tool. The war with Iran has entered its fourth week, and since its onset, oil and gas prices have skyrocketed in the United States. As of March 23, the national average price per gallon stood at $3.95, and Ohio's average price was $3.71, according to data from AAA. In a Truth Social post , President Donald Trump threatened to destroy power plants in Iran if the country didn't open the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway through which 20% of the world's oil passes through. Iran has had the strait in a chokehold since the U.S. and Israel first attacked the country on Feb. 28. Iran threatened to retaliate with strikes on critical energy and water systems.
