Wabash National announced that it will conduct layoffs at 2572 E. Kercher Road as a result of idling manufacturing operations. The company informed the Indiana Department of Workforce Development as well as the City of Goshen and Elkhart County on Monday. Wabash will conduct the layoffs in phases starting on March 6. The initial round includes a list of 147 positions, largely assemblers, welders and machine operators. The company said in Monday's notice that it will follow up regarding later phases of layoffs. Wabash lists a total of 193 hourly workers and 21 salaried employees who will be laid off by the middle of the year, according to a separate notice given the same day to the Security and Exchange Commission. It will also close a Little Falls, Minnesota, plant, which will affect 56 employees.
