"Whitestone has underperformed its potential, its peers, and the board's own expectations," Bruce SchanzerChairman of Erez Asset Management said in a letter to holders on Tuesday. "The board is mischaracterizing this performance in its communications with shareholders." The latest move in the proxy battle comes after Whitestone REIT ( WSR ) a month ago said it rejected the nomination of two candidates recommended by shareholder Erez Asset. The company said it has received notice that Erez has nominated former shopping center REIT CEO Schanzer and former shopping center REIT senior investment executive Cathy Clark to stand for election to the retail landlord's board of trustees at the 2024 annual meeting. "During their interviews, neither candidate recommended any changes to the company's business or financial strategy, or its corporate governance," Whitestone said in a statement last month.
