Maty Ezraty, Who Spread Her Yoga Methods Globally, Dies at 55 - The New York Times Maty Ezraty, who helped popularize the ancient practice of yoga in the United States and created a rigorous teaching program that trained tens of thousands of yoga instructors around the , died on July 9 while teaching in Tokyo. She was 55. Her partner, Chuck Miller, said on his Facebook page that she died unexpectedly and that the cause was unknown. Ms. Ezraty co-founded YogaWorks An estimated 55 million Americans are now yoga practitioners, up from 18 million in 2008. Revenue from the American yoga industry Ms. Ezraty and Mr. Miller sold YogaWorks in 2004 and moved to Hawaii, but she continued to teach and run workshops around the .
