Maty Ezraty, who spread her yoga methods globally, dies at 55 Maty Ezraty, who helped popularize the ancient practice of yoga in the United States and created a rigorous teaching program that trained tens of thousands of yoga instructors around the world, died July 9 while teaching in Tokyo. She was 55. Her partner, Chuck Miller, said on his Facebook page that she died unexpectedly and that the cause was unknown. Ezraty co-founded YogaWorks in 1987 in a studio in Santa Monica, California, and developed it with Miller, her partner in life and in business. They helped move yoga into the mainstream, offering more than 12 classes per week to more than 7 students per day.
