Zafgen ( ZFGN ) is a biopharmaceutical company developing treatments for type 2 diabetes, Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) and liver disease. The company's most advanced drug, ZGN-1061 is nearing completion of a Phase 2 study. The development of ZGN-1061 appears to be facing an issue however, as ZFGN recently notified investors that the US FDA had placed a clinical hold on ZGN-1061. That news has sent ZFGN stock tumbling but even a brief review of the circumstances surrounding the clinical hold should have investors considering if this is in fact a buying opportunity.
