Oil prices end at 1-week low on rise in U.S. crude output, gasoline stocks Oil prices settled at their lowest level in a week on Wednesday following release of OPEC’s monthly oil report and the U.S. government’s weekly update on petroleum supplies. A drop in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries crude output to a six-month low and sizable a decline in weekly U.S. crude supplies offered support to prices, but the reports also fed concerns over rising U.S. crude production. January West Texas Intermediate crude CLF8, -0.88% on the New York Mercantile Exchange lost 54 cents, or 1%, to settle at $56.60 a barrel—the lowest finish since Dec. 6, according to FactSet data. February Brent LCOG8, -1.41% fell 90 cents, or 1.4%, to $62.44 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe, a low not seen since Thursday.
