ASML Holding ( NASDAQ:ASML ) shares rose in Amsterdam trading after SK Hynix said it will purchase 11.95 trillion won ($7.97 billion) of EUV lithography tools. This is the largest single order publicly disclosed by an ASML customer. SK Hynix said it will take delivery by December 31, 2027, for use in the mass production of new products. The equipment includes high-end lithography systems critical for producing next-generation memory chips used in AI workloads. SK Hynix's spending reflects intensifying competition in high-bandwidth memory, where performance requirements are rising rapidly alongside demand from AI data centers. As one of the few suppliers capable of delivering extreme ultraviolet (EUV) systems, ASML remains a key beneficiary of this cycle. ASML reported a 38.8 billion ($44.98 billion) order backlog at the end of 2025. The order adds another layer of confirmed demand ahead of ASML's Q1 2026 earnings, scheduled for April 15.
