Wael Sawan could see his total pay packet jump by £4.5m to a maximum £19m a year under proposals drawn up by the FTSE 100 company. That would make him one of the country's highest paid blue chip executives. Other high-earners include AstraZeneca's Pascal Soriot , who was paid £15m in 2024, and Rolls-Royce's Tufan Erginbilgic , whose pay is reportedly being increased to a maximum of £18m. Simon Peckham, Melrose's chief executive, took home £58m upon retiring last year. Mr Sawan's base salary is just over £1.5m and the changes would mean he could earn nine times that amount per year in long-term performance pay, up from a maximum of six times currently. That would make him eligible to receive stock awards worth £13.8m, up from £9m previously. On top of that, he can receive a maximum annual bonus of £3.8m – taking his total potential package to more than £19m.
