Baxter to hire 2,000 employees as demand for medical products surge (Reuters) - Baxter International Inc ( BAX.N ) said on Wednesday it would hire up to 2,000 employees globally, including 800 people in the United States, in response to higher demand for its medical devices due to rise in cases of the new coronavirus infections. To address soaring demand for its products, including blood purification systems PrisMax and Prismaflex used to treat acute kidney injury and other conditions, Baxter said it had ramped up production. It also said it was increasing its air freight capacity as well as raising the limit on transportation frequency for critically needed medical devices and medicines between the United States and Europe.
