On January 16, TD Cowen analyst Robert Moskow raised his price target on B&G Foods, Inc. (NYSE:BGS) to $3.50 from $3 but kept a Sell rating on the stock. The update followed B&G's announcement that it had struck a deal to buy the College Inn and Kitchen Basics broth brands from Del Monte Foods for about $110 million through a bankruptcy auction process. The day before, on January 15, B&G confirmed it had agreed to acquire Del Monte Foods' broth and stock business, including both brands, for roughly $110 million in cash. The final price will be adjusted for inventory at closing, and the company will also assume certain liabilities tied to the business. B&G won the assets after a competitive bidding process connected to the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of Del Monte Foods Corporation II and some of its affiliates.
