Indianapolis-based burger chain Steak ‘n Shake has taken another step to align itself with the administration of President Donald Trump and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., installing an officer to review ingredient sourcing, nutritional standards and preparation practices. On April 21, the company announced the appointment of its first chief Make America Healthy Again officer, tapping Michael Boes, one of the leading developers of the 2025-2023 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, for the role. Why is Steak ‘n Shake adding a MAHA role? In the release announcing the creation of the positions, Steak ‘n Shake said it made the move to “champion healthy fast food.” Boes is charged with advancing "nutritional integrity, ingredient transparency, and the long-term health of Steak 'n Shake customers,” the company said.
