Scotiabank CEO says coronavirus pandemic will permanently change the way people live and work Brian Porter said despite the strains currently being put on the banking system, it would endure the crisis — and so would Scotiabank The chief executive officer of the Bank of Nova Scotia predicted Tuesday that the COVID-19 crisis will change forever the way people live and work, but that the lender and the broader banking system will be able to hold on. “While the magnitude of the coronavirus pandemic is unlike anything we have faced in recent memory, it is certainly not the first crisis we have navigated,” Scotiabank president and CEO Brian Porter said during the lender’s annual shareholder meeting, which was held virtually because of the virus. “There will undoubtedly be learnings from the crisis for us, at the bank, and for society more broadly.
