For years, Tesla's Supercharger network has set the benchmark for EV infrastructure, enabling drivers to recharge quickly and travel long distances with minimal planning. For many EV buyers, that charging network remains Tesla's biggest practical advantage over a growing wave of Chinese EV rivals. But Chinese EV giant BYD Co., Ltd. may be testing the limits of that advantage. The company has unveiled a new 1.5-megawatt Flash Charging system capable of charging an electric vehicle from 10% to 97% in roughly nine minutes, according to company announcements.
