Used EV sales in January reached 31,503 units, which is the most recent data available, according to a report from Cox Automotive . The figure is 21.2% higher than last January and also up 20.8% from December 2025. The finding comes as the average price for new cars reached $49,353 in February 2026 , according to Cox. By comparison, the average price of a used EV in the US is around $28,000–$29,000 , according to Recharged.com, while the average used gas car price was over $29,099, according to Cars.com. With that in mind, the USA TODAY Cars team took a look at average used car prices that were reported by CarGurus.com and compiled a list of the six used EVs that are usually priced under $35,000. 1.
