The final episode of The New Look actually marks the beginning of Dior's career, with the reconstitution of one of fashion history's most important moments: Dior's first runway show in his refined and sophisticated salon, situated Avenue Montaigne in Paris, on 12 February 1947. The designer had invited some friends and colleagues, however, the French press was on strike at the time. Only Carmel Snow, editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar (portrayed by Glenn Close in the show), was there and contributed to making Dior's reputation and fame by saying these iconic few words: ‘'It's quite a revolution, dear Christian.
