However, those days are long gone. As inflation accelerated, maintaining ultra-low pricing became nearly impossible. Rising food, labor, and operating costs forced many chains to raise menu prices to protect margins, but in doing so, some risked losing the same value-driven customers who helped build their brands in the first place. Taco Bell avoided that downfall by taking a different approach. The fast-food chain has pursued an aggressive value strategy for years, most recently launching its Cravings Value menu in January 2024. This move replaced its long-standing Dollar Cravings Menu, which debuted in 2014 and featured $1 items that eventually became unsustainable due to rising costs.
