The deadline for filing the tax returns is Apr. 15, 2026, and those who delay filing their taxes could face penalties or incur late fees. The whole process can be quite complicated and it often involves a lot of paperwork. But a new proposal by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) could save a lot of paperwork—quite literally. While the proposal doesn't require brokers to furnish the 1099-DA statements on paper to any customer who doesn't consent to receive these statements electronically, it would permit the brokers to terminate their business relationship with the customers who refuse electronic
