The victim's family was thrilled with the verdict, a spokesperson the Davidson County Sheriff's Office said. Amanda McComb, of Clarksville, was shot and killed in January 2022. Redear Haji was arrested about a month later. On March 25, a Nashville jury found Haji, 28, guilty of second-degree murder in McComb's death. The prosecutor knew getting a first-degree murder conviction would be difficult, the DA's office spokesperson said. When Nashville police announced Haji's arrest, they said the shooting happened during a burglary. Haji claimed he shot McComb after finding her in his garage and as she exited out a window. Surveillance footage from a neighbor's house showed McComb was running away when she was shot, police said. A week before the trial, the assistant district attorney on the case, Jan Norman, lowered the charge from first-degree to second, with the victim's family's approval, the DA's office spokesperson said.
