A Nouvelair plane was attempting to land on Sunday night when it narrowly missed an EasyJet aircraft already on the runway, according to France's BEA aviation safety agency. Advertisement - Scroll to Continue The incoming plane broke off its approach and pulled up, in an incident the BEA has classified as "serious" because the aircraft was going to land on the wrong runway. Investigators went to the scene and ordered the recovery of both planes' black boxes. They will also interview the crews and air traffic controllers to establish the sequence of events. The near miss comes days after an air traffic controller in Corsica fell asleep, forcing a plane to circle for nearly 20 minutes before landing safely. The Ajaccio public prosecutor's office opened an investigation into that incident.
