It's the busiest airport in Europe, and it sees more travellers per its size and number of runways than any other airport. In 2024, Heathrow Airport handled nearly 84 million passengers, and it has an annual limit of 480,000 take-offs and landings, which is very close to being reached. The Independent states that one plane lands and another takes off every 80 seconds at peak hour
