Kenton Jarvis said the “lunatic” move would not only hit passengers with higher fares but also lead to onboard chaos because planes would not have enough space to store everyone's luggage He said easyJet aircraft can only currently accommodate cabin bags for two thirds of passengers – meaning that under the EU's shake-up, dozens of passengers would have their luggage removed and stowed in the hold. This would delay departures and force passengers to wait for their baggage after landing, according to Mr Jarvis. Mr Jarvis said that if the EU bans airlines from charging for cabin bags , then the cost of carrying them will have to be added to ticket prices. This will push up fares for all passengers, he said – including those who choose to travel without any paid-for luggage. He said: “What would happen is people would be charged for products they didn't want. Now people only bring a cabin bag when they want to and are paying for it.
