The bank said in a note to investors on March 4 it's recommending investors consider buying the largest American automakers' stock because they are both expected to "outperform expectations this year as automakers adjust to a new regulatory environment that favors their higher margin" gas-powered cars. The bank said GM's stock could soon be worth as much as $105 and Ford's could be worth as much as $17. That would represent a big jump from the $76.19 GM's stock was $12.34 that Ford's stock was trading at on the New York Stock Exchange at the close of trading on March 5. "We highlight Ford General Motors as OEM top picks as we see potential for upward estimate revisions given the shift away from EVs and emissions mandates that limited profitability over the past several years," Bank of America analyst Alexander Perry said in the note that was sent to investors who utilize the bank.
