The 2026 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicles of the Year were revealed at the Detroit Auto Show on Wednesday, Jan. 14. A jury of 50 professional automotive journalists from the United States and Canada decided on the winners among three nominees for each category “These winners represent the best in the auto industry,” said Jeff Gilbert, president of North American Car of the Year and automotive reporter at WWJ Radio in Detroit, said in a statement. Gilbert added, “This award has great value because of the diverse backgrounds of our jurors.” The USA TODAY Cars Team took at look at the winners in each category and compiled some information for consumers about each model.
