GlobalFoundries sues Tower Semiconductor for patent infringement [Yahoo! Finance]

Dive Brief: GlobalFoundries on Thursday filed multiple patent lawsuits against Israel-based Tower Semiconductor, alleging widespread infringement of its manufacturing process technologies. The New York-based company brought two complaints to the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Texas, claiming that Tower violated 11 patents that protect its manufacturing technologies. One complaint included patents owned by GlobalFoundries Singapore , while the other focused on U.S. patents. The lawsuits seek to block Tower from importing and selling products that allegedly infringe on GlobalFoundries' patents. A Tower spokesperson on Saturday refuted the allegations, saying in an email the company will defend itself in court.
