Gilead to Acquire Ouro Medicines in $2.18B Deal, Expand Inflammation Pipeline On March 23, The Wall Street Journal reported that Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) plans to acquire Ouro Medicines, a developer of autoimmune-disease therapies, for up to about $2.18 billion. The company also intends to develop the acquired assets in collaboration with Galapagos NV. Under the deal terms, Gilead would purchase all outstanding equity of Ouro for about $1.68 billion in cash upfront, payable at closing, along with up to $500 million in contingent milestone payments. Gilead also said it is in discussions with Galapagos regarding a potential research-and-development partnership tied to these assets. As part of the arrangement, Galapagos would fund half of the upfront payment and half of any milestone obligations. It would also take on most of Ouro's operating assets and employees.
