How about brutal, in every basketball sense. Maybe the most brutal Atlantic Coast Conference loss for Notre Dame in the three years under head coach Micah Shrewsberry, which is saying something. More brutal than losses to Louisville and SMU last February? Maybe. More brutal than the January 2 loss at California that featured Shrewsberry going lunatic fringe on the officials ? Maybe. This was a massive opportunity missed on a wasted afternoon by an Irish team that absolutely had to have a league win to feel good about its chances of just getting to next month's league tournament.
