PITTSBURGH — There were certainly a handful of surprises in Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft, Thursday, April 23 in Pittsburgh. Some squads struck gold just by sitting patiently and letting their guy fall to them, while others traded up and landed potential future stars. Meanwhile, other teams left a record 320,000-plus fans in awe with their questionable choices. Here's a look at the draft winners and losers of Round 1: NFL Draft Round 1 winners New York Jets Not only did the Jets land David Bailey, who produced 14½ sacks to lead the nation in 2025, they also drafted Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq to play alongside Mason Taylor. The Jets traded back into the first round and selected skilled Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese fell into the laps of the Giants at pick No. 5. Then, they backed that pick up at No. 10, addressing the offensive line with Miami (FL) offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa. The Browns traded back three spots to No. 9
