Joining me now is part of our write it off or nice try segment presented by H&R Block. It's Dan Geltrude, the founder and CEO of Geltrude and Company. Let's start here, Dan. Uh, simple. What's the difference? Walk us through this between a tax deduction and a credit. Dan Geltrud So, a tax deduction lowers your income. A tax credit actually lowers your tax bill dollar for dollar. So, for example, if you have $100 tax deduction, you lower your income by $100, but if you have $100 tax credit, you actually lower the tax by $100. So, a tax credit is much better than a tax deduction. Speaker A A big headline from last year, Dan, was the boost to the assault reduction cap.
