JetBlue recently mandated masks for all passengers and surprisingly, most airlines don’t yet do this. Earlier this week, I wrote about thethreat to old models of public transitAirlines will insist on masks — making an uncomfortable journey even worse — and they may switch to constantly refreshing the air or putting HEPA filters and UV lights in to purify air and some surfaces. But being packed tight with somebody coughing? Or one of the many asymptomatic people? It’s something people will avoid for some time to come, particularly for more than a few hours.
