It is only the third vivid pink cushion cut diamond over 10 carats to come to market in the past 10 years, the auction house. Its estimate is approximately $20 million. The clarity grade for the pink diamond is VVS2, a high grade that is below internally flawless and flawless. “With the current high global demand for rare colored diamonds, the chance to offer The Glowing Rose, a superb and extremely rare colored diamond, makes this auction moment truly exciting,” said Jessica Wyndham, head of High Jewellery, Sotheby's Geneva. The loose diamond is being showcased in a presentation mount by historic British high Jewelry retailer and manufacturer, Boodles, which specializes in pink diamond jewels. Jody Wainwright, managing director of Boodles, says it is “a high watermark” for the jeweler's longstanding relationship with Sotheby's.
