Puerto Rico has been enjoying a tourism boom, fueled by the island's easy access from many U.S. cities, close to 300 beaches, lush tropical landscapes, and rich endemic culture. (The island saw 11.7 million visitors in 2024, a roughly 30% increase from pre-pandemic 2019, according to Discover Puerto Rico More flights to the island and savvy marketing efforts, including Live Boricura, an ode to Puerto Rico's diverse heritage and traditions, along with out-of-the box campaigns with Pantone, the color experts, and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream celebrating the 70th anniversary of the island's famous drink, the piña colada, were other spurs for growth. Bad Bunny's three-month concert series this summer prompted a surge in the island's off-season tourism, drawing an estimated visitors.
