What's at stake: The deal offers U.S.-based private equity sponsors and corporate clients access to European acquisition targets and exit strategies, Key said in a press release. Forward look: The transaction is expected to close during the second half of this year, pending regulatory approval. KeyCorp in Cleveland plans to expand its financial advisory business to the other side of the Atlantic by acquiring a middle-market investment banking advisory firm based in the United Kingdom. The $189 billion-asset parent company of KeyBank said Wednesday that it's signed a definitive agreement to buy Clearwater Corporate Finance LLP, also known as Clearwater UK. The proposed acquisition comes six years after Key's corporate and investment bank partnered with Clearwater to increase the level of cross-border mergers and acquisitions on behalf of both firms' corporate and institutional clients.
