The Premier League has announced the formation of a Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame will be limited to players, and the first two inductees will be revealed on March 19. At the same time, a shortlist of additional nominees will be unveiled, and fans will be invited to help select additional players for induction in 2020. You don’t have to be rocket surgeon to realise that anytime you open voting to the masses the process is liable to be hijacked through social media manipulation. Here’s hoping that the Premier League thinks this through before it launches. To be eligible for consideration, players must be retired, and consideration will only be given to a player’s time in the Premier League. So, who will be the first two inductees and who might be added in years to come? Here is my 22-player shortlist.
