Tariffs and the global economy keep hammering the video game hardware space, and lately, it's been a race to see who can raise hardware prices the most, PlayStation or Xbox. Now, with two big increases for each brand, it's a tie. And everyone loses. Sony has just announced hikes across all PS5 consoles, which are no less than $100 and as much as $150 per SKU. Here are the new increases, which were already upped last year once. PS5 Digital: $400 (2020 launch) $500 (2025) $600 (2026) PS5 Disc: $500 $550 $650 PS5 Pro: $700 $750 $900 PS Portal: $200 $250 If you want to compare that to current Xbox prices, again, increased twice: Series S 512 GB: $400 Series S 1 TB: $450 Series X 1 TB: $650 Series X 1 TB Digital: $600 Series X 2 TB: $800 The joke a little while ago was that an Xbox Series X at the high end cost more than a PS5 Pro.
