Novo Nordisk shares were down about eight percent in morning trading on the Copenhagen stock exchange, as trading resumed after the Easter holidays. The drop followed US competitor Eli Lilly's announcement on Thursday of successful clinical tests for its type 2 diabetes and obesity treatment orforglipron, which sent its stock soaring 14.3 percent. In February, Novo Nordisk announced that its net profit jumped 21 percent in 2024 to 100 billion Danish kroner ($15.4 billion), while sales rose 25 percent to 290.4 billion kroner. Ozempic, which accounts for 41 percent of Novo Nordisk's sales, is an injectable anti-diabetic treatment that became wildly popular on social networks for its slimming properties.
