Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis selected Denton for a new manufacturing plant that will make cancer treatment drugs, the company announced Feb. 25, part of a multibillion-dollar U.S. expansion push. A subsidiary of Novartis AG (NYSE: NVS), Novartis Gene Therapies Inc., will put the 46,000-square-foot radioligand therapy plant in Denton, about 30 miles north of Fort Worth. The company will make cancer treatment drugs such as Pluvicto and Lutathera at the facility. Denton officials previously estimated the company's investment would total $280 million and create 150 jobs. Construction is estimated to begin this year and the site will be fully operational in 2028, according to Novartis. Jobs will be in bioengineering, advanced manufacturing and quality and operations.
