London House Prices Suffer Worst Plunge In 10 years: But Is It All Doom And Gloom? Pastel coloured terraced houses in Primrose Hill. 123rf.com The latest UK house price index report from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), covering May 2019, has painted a mixed picture of the market, with better news in some areas of the country over others. There’s still a sense that political uncertainty continues to stifle growth. The report, that can be read in full The headline findings in the report are that house price inflation from across the UK has fallen from 1.5% in April 2019 to 1.2% in May 2019. This continues a slowdown in house price growth that’s been evident since the middle of 2016. The average price of a home is still higher than it was in the same period last year - £227,000 in May 2018 to £229,000 in May 2019 - yet the nudge upwards is negligible, when considering inflation.
