box office attendance, company executives warned while delivering their 2025 year-end earnings report AMC has more than 850 locations worldwide but has shuttered 213 over the past five years as more viewers shift to streaming. Total North American box office revenue grew slightly year over year, but fourth quarter revenue fell 1.4 percent. Sean Goodman, AMC's chief financial officer, told investors the company expects to continue closing locations that fail to meet performance goals. “The ongoing reshaping of our footprint reflects our commitment to improve asset productivity, expand margins, and position AMC for sustainable long-term growth,” Goodman said on Tuesday's earnings call, according to FastCompany.com When an analyst asked about AMC's approach to closures, Goodman noted that roughly 10% of the chain's theaters come up for lease renewal each year; a natural time to assess each one's profitability.
